Invisalign

Invisalign® straightens your teeth without wires and brackets by using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. It is virtually undetectable, so hardly anyone will know that you're straightening your teeth. Invisalign also offers a range of treatment options for teenagers.

Clearly Different

The Invisalign System combines advanced 3-D computer graphics technology with the 100-year-old science of orthodontics. Invisalign aligners are designed to move your teeth in small steps to the desired final position prescribed by your orthodontist. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan.

Your first step is to visit our office to determine if this system is right for you. After sending precise treatment instructions, Invisalign uses advanced computer technology to translate these instructions in a sequence of finely calibrated aligners—as few as 12 or as many as 48. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next one, your teeth will begin to gradually move week-by-week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. Then, you'll be smiling like you never have before!

Thing to Keep in Mind with Invisalign

It is a way to straighten your teeth without wearing braces. It is comprised of a series of clear plastic trays called aligners that fit smoothly and comfortably on your teeth. The trays can be easily removed for eating, brushing and flossing, and perhaps best of all, they are virtually invisible. Many patients who always wanted to improve their smile but were unwilling to wear more traditional braces have used this system to get the smile they always wanted.

The trays MUST be worn 20-22 hours every day with NO EXCEPTIONS. You must wear them at all times except when eating, brushing, flossing, or occasionally on a special occasion. Each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks. Office visits are typically every 4-8 weeks where we check your progress and give you the following sequence of trays.

Besides the near invisibility of Invisalign trays, other advantages over "fixed" braces include the ability to be "braceless" for milestone events; aligners can be removed to brush and floss so oral hygiene can be maintained; there are no restrictions on eating and drinking; and compared to traditional braces, this system often requires fewer office visits, shorter appointments, and there are typically no "emergency" visits, making this system very convenient for the patient.

The cost is typically about the same as traditional braces.

An important last point if you are considering Invisalign to straighten your teeth:

We have found that patients who research Invisalign on the internet or in talking with friends often are confused with what they learn: It seems that about half of the patients who have had it love it, while the other half may say it did not really work for them. This is usually because Invisalign is not for every patient, and Dr. Meyer will make sure to let you know if you are a candidate for it or not.

To ensure the best possible results, only an orthodontist who has been trained and certified by Align Technology can diagnose and treat using Invisalign. If you are interested in Invisalign and would like to know if you are a candidate for this modality of treatment, you should schedule a complimentary exam with Dr. Meyer, where he will evaluate your teeth and concerns and let you know if it is an option for you.

Invisalign offers a range of treatment options for teenagers. The Invisalign® for Teen aligners are made with the same Invisalign technology used for Invisalign aligners, moving teeth gradually without the need for metal or wires.

The great benefit of Invisalign Teen is that it provides a more flexible way to give teenagers the confidence of a great smile. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are comfortable, removable and barely visible, which means teenagers can carry on enjoying life without the restrictions, irritation, and self-consciousness associated with the metal brackets and wires. Invisalign aligners are also removable, so teenagers can continue brushing and flossing normally. This can lead to better overall dental health in the future.

"Invisalign Teen has been developed with teenagers, parents and leading orthodontists who understand the active lifestyles and unique treatment needs of teenage patients."

What options are available to teenagers?

Invisalign has several treatment options available for teenagers, depending on the stage of teeth development. Some teenagers will be suitable for the same Invisalign treatment as adult patients. Younger teenagers, or those who haven't got all of their adult teeth erupted can be treated with Invisalign® for teens, because it is a treatment designed specifically for teenagers. Dr. Meyer will determine which treatment best suits your individual needs and the condition of your teeth.
